We photographed Ashley and Jason’s intimate elopement around Austin this spring. Their dream day was to celebrate together outside of a traditional larger wedding day. For them, planning an all-day wedding celebration felt like a daunting task. After thinking through their options, they listened to their hearts and celebrated in a way that was true to who they are. A dream elopement, getting married at the courthouse, enjoying food at Clarks, and vows and portraits at The Inn at Jennifer’s Garden.
AUSTIN PROBATE COURTHOUSE ELOPEMENT
Getting married at the Probate Courthouse in Austin is a more elegant space than the other Precincts. When choosing to elope, we recommend requesting this room!
The Probate Court has a beautiful spiral staircase and an Art Deco, mid-century style that is breathtaking. Judge Chu officiated the ceremony and led us into the courtroom after we initially met him in a different room. It was so kind of him to take us here as we were the last ones in the building that day. We were awestruck at the grandiosity of this space when we walked in. After a moment of taking it all in, the ceremony began after Judge Chu spent some time getting to know Ashley and Jason.
If you’re planning to elope at the courthouse, we recommend Judge Chu, as he is personal and heartwarming!

Up Next: Clarks Oyster Bar!
Jason dove into some shoestring fries and Ashley wanted to enjoy some oysters as an afternoon snack. These two enjoyed a couple of drinks while we talked about who they are as a couple, niche music taste, art, and so much more. Taking a moment to add to their elopement experience was fantastic! You don’t need to rush through photos for a ceremony and call it a day. Creating space for you two to enjoy yourselves and enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience can make your day more memorable!
Clarks Oyster Bar is an Austin staple since 2012, serving freshly shucked oysters, crudo, lobster roll, daily fish specials, caviar, and bowls of chowder and cioppino. With a nod to California classics, this patio bar is inspired by the New England Coast. A bright space like this was a perfect addition to their day!

Vows and Portraits at “The Inn at Jennifer’s Garden”
The original plan was to photograph fun portraits around downtown, but The Inn at Jennifer’s Garden ended up being the best find. This quiet, hidden gem is an incredible, intimate wedding venue in Austin. The house itself has so much heart, and the gardens spread throughout the property right on the river. With so many unique nooks on the property, this was the perfect way to end their elopement.
Ashley and Jason shared their private vows on the steps, surrounded by lush flowers being pollinated by bees and butterflies. We walked around different parts of the property, capturing fun and romantic portraits while hearing stories about them. As we wrapped up our time together, we found the cutest spot for them to share a toast and soak in what this day means to them.

We left them to enjoy the remainder of their day together once we wrapped up. Within the next month, we will photograph their wedding celebration with their closest friends. The next celebration took place over a weekend, hanging out with friends at Patrizis in Austin. A magician and karaoke the following day at Barrel O’ Fun was a unique way to continue the celebrations. We’ll be sure to blog about this party soon!
