Junior League of Houston Wedding – Sahra and Mary

Sahra and Mary were set up by Mary’s best friend Rachel. Her and Sahra knew about each other socially and Rachel had seen her on an awful first date at a bar. Rachel texted Sahra a few days later telling her she noticed the date didn’t go well and that a friend of hers just moved back to Houston from Phoenix. She thought they would hit it off and Sahra said she was willing to meet her. Mary contacted her a day or so later to chat a bit and set up a time to meet at a local bar. They weren’t sure if it was a date when they initially met, but were sure it was a date by the end of the evening! Now onto the proposal.

Mary proposed to Sahra at Disney World in January of 2018. They had been casually looking at rings together leading up to the proposal. Sahra was worried she was pressuring her to propose and told her it was okay if they didn’t get engaged any time soon. Little did she know, Mary already bought the rings! A few days later they were at Magic Kingdom in Disney World. When you walk in and go up the street there are photographers everywhere to take your photo in front of Cinderella’s Castle. Sahra said she wanted to get a photo together and found a photographer. They got set up and Mary got down on one knee! Sahra said everything was a blur but she did remember hearing Mary say, “princesses can marry princesses.” Their story is so sweet and we were thrilled to photograph their wedding.

We’ve absolutely loved getting to know Sahra and Mary over the last year. We photographed their engagement session last year and just adore these two. Their wedding took place at the Junior League of Houston and was perfect for their elegant laid back style. We photographed their beautiful garden first look, their hilarious bunch of friends, and a party that shouldn’t have stopped. We’re thrilled for these two to spend their lives together and happy to share their story.
