Prospect House Dripping Springs Wedding – Sara and Matt

We absolutely loved photographing this Prospect House Dripping Springs wedding last October. Sara and Matt wanted a laid back wedding out in the hill country where all their friends and family could join together to celebrate. Prospect House is easily one of the best wedding venues in the Austin area. Before we get on with their wedding, we want to share their story from their words.

Sara told us this is how they met

Sara is from Atlanta. Matt is from Cleveland. Coincidentally, they both moved to San Francisco in September 2012. In the fall of 2013, there was this new dating app that everyone was talking about called Tinder. Being the young, ambitious, over-worked business professionals that they were at the time they decided to give Tinder a try. Although Sara had been contacted by many potential suitors on Tinder, she was still weirded out about the idea of going to meet a complete stranger at a bar. She told almost all of them to fuck off. However, Matt, being the ever-persistent optimist that he is, wouldn’t give up on Sara. Eventually she agreed to meet him for drinks. And of course, she bailed on Matt two more times before finally going to meet him on her first, and only, Tinder date.

They met for drinks at a bar called West of Pecos, in San Francisco’s Mission District. Matt instantly fell in love with Sara’s beauty and intelligence. Sara, meanwhile, was not too impressed with Matt’s inability to keep a conversation going …until they started talking about music, and then Matt wouldn’t shut up. They heard a live band playing at the bar next door called Blondies , so they decided to go check it out. It was there that they had their first dance and their first kiss. Soon they were in love and living the good life, seeing hundreds of concerts all over the country together, and enjoying all the great food and drinks that SF has to offer.

After dating for three years, in January 2017, they decided to put their love to the ultimate test. They moved into a 300 sq ft apartment together right next to one of San Francisco’s busiest intersections. Seeing how this tiny apartment was considered a “steal” in SFs horrible housing market, it wasn’t long before Sara and Matt decided that SF wasn’t going to work for them long-term.They began traveling the US, searching for their next home. The criteria was: 1.) great music scene; 2.) warm; and 3.) a decent technology industry, since they both work in tech. Austin obviously checks all those boxes. But there was one problem: neither one of them had ever been there. So in May 2018, Matt and Sara decided to go check out Austin, where Matt finally got down on one knee and proposed at Lady Bird Lake.

After completing one last nine-show West coast Phish tour, they packed all they could into Matt’s Ford Ranger and moved lock stock and barrel to Austin in October 2018. It is here that Matt and Sara will write the next chapters of their lives together, and they are happy that you are going to be a part of it.

This is how Matt proposed to Sara.

“It was a surprise all the way up until planning for our trip to Austin. Matt never picks where to go for dinner and he picked one of the most gorgeous restaurants I’d even seen (Mattie’s) and had never heard of in all my research.

He also kept carrying around a sweatshirt in 95 degrees and talked about how AC makes him cold. Little did I know that is where he was holding the ring.”

Their story is just so wonderful and we are happy to have them here in Austin! They are Deadheads and during the reception Matt went on stage to jam for hours with DeadEye Austin. So basically their reception was a concert and celebration in one and it was wonderful. We’re so excited to share their Prospect House Dripping Springs Wedding with you so scroll on through!
