South Congress Date Night Engagement Session

August 1, 2019

Aline and Kurt wanted their engagement session at South Congress. They are both laid back and wanted their session to be a typical evening out. We walked around South Congress as they enjoyed some Amy’s Ice Cream and Torchy’s Tacos. We enjoyed hanging out and getting to know each other while making a few frequent stops to photograph them. They also love Willie Nelson and we love that South Congress has a mural of him. We want to share their story that they shared with us.

“We met in the Fall of 2012. I was working in the North Bay making wine when my best friend, Stephanie, recently moved to San Francisco. When I had time off, I would head down to the city to hang out with Steph. Serendipitously, Kurt was one of Stephanie’s many roommates in the “Mountain House”. Slowly but surely, I ended up taking weekends to see Kurt instead. It’s pretty crazy because we were both very anti-relationship when we met: especially me since I promised a company I’d move to Argentina starting in January 2013. I went to Argentina and we left the relationship as a “that was really awesome and it sucks you’re leaving” deal. Turns out, Argentina wasn’t for me. When I came back to the Bay Area again, Kurt and I just couldn’t stay away from each other and started a relationship (for real this time) in the late Summer of 2013.”

Here is their beautiful proposal story as well!

“I had to fly out to the Bay Area for a work week and a holiday party. Kurt told me he was going to fly out to meet me for the weekend and also catch up on some work with his partner. We went to my office holiday party, had a great time, then headed to SF to sleep it off. Kurt was weirdly insistent about taking a hike on that Saturday and in hindsight must have asked about where I wanted to hike about 3 different times. Anyway, we woke up to get some bagels and our favorite coffee, Philz. Philz wasn’t open, but we found another kiosk within walking distance: a nice hike along the piers of San Francisco. We got to Aquatic Park Pier and there was a nice view of both Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. There was also another couple there that was lingering and gawking like we were. According to Kurt, they took a really long time to leave, but I didn’t notice this at all. When this couple did finally leave, he proposed! I was totally surprised and said yes immediately. Luckily, that same couple happened to also snap a pic of the proposal.”
