The Astorian Houston Wedding – Robin and James

We absolutely adore Robin and James and their Astorian wedding in Houston. We first met with Robin and James at their engagement session last year at Mckinney Falls State Park here in Austin. They actually got engaged at the park and wanted a session there to hold those memories in that beautiful space. We fell in love with these two immediately. They are both so gentle and kind to each other and their love just radiates. They were so excited to get married and it was very apparent.

Their wedding venue, The Astorian, is the best combination of a lofty elegant and industrial space. We started the day with them getting ready and prepping for their first look together. They wanted to make sure they were able to spend some time together on their wedding and also take care of all their portraits before the sunset ceremony. It’s so much fun wandering around the venue with our couples before all their friends and family show up. The progression of the day and the way the celebration fills the space is such a joy. Robin and James had an intimate wedding of about seventy friends and family. Both of their families are from South Korea and their immediate families are from Houston and California. It’s always beautiful seeing family from all over be joined into one room to celebrate a unity in marriage.

Throughout the evening there was a play doh game, which we have never seen before but recommend. It’s honestly hilarious seeing people try and make Harry Potter’s lighting bolt out of clay. They also had a shoe game where they had to do a little dance off if they both chose something different for the answer and it was a blast. Robin surprised us with her sick dance moves. We loved celebrating with James and Robin’s family and are happy to share their day.
