Michael and Amanda’s engagement session at Laguna Gloria in Austin was spectacular. Their style, the overcast sky, and the vibrant landscaping added to the aesthetic they wanted with their session. When couples book us we have a welcome questionnaire that helps us get to know people better. This also helps us understand the vibe and style our couples want with their session. Michael and Amanda wanted something not cheesy that felt dreamy and maybe a bit funny. Laguna Gloria’s architecture drew them in so this was altogether perfect. Their proposal in Paris was a rainy day so the rainy weather this day was fitting. On that note, here is their proposal story.
They try and visit Michael’s family in England every Christmas. While visiting, they thought it would be perfect to book a four-day trip to Paris. Michael said he is extraordinarily clumsy and has the tendency to lose things so he was nervous carrying a ring around through all the travels leading up to Paris. The ring managed well in his pocket after a few days visiting his mothers and heading to Paris. They went to visit the Eiffel Tower with butterflies in his stomach knowing he was about to propose. Turns out, the Eiffel Tower was a bit more touristy and not as romantic of a setting as he wanted. Heading to lunch afterwards they ordered a bottle of wine at 11:00 a.m because those nerves needed to be settled.
After finishing their bowl of snails and bottle of wine they headed over to Luxembourg Gardens. It was the middle of winter so maybe not most idyllic but Michael knew he needed to propose soon. He directed them to sit down and with butterflies in his stomach he said, “Fuck it, let’s do it right now!” — Michael went on one knee and said, “Well, now’s a good time as any…” Tears shot out of both of their eyes. Amanda shouted, “YES!” They face-timed Amanda’s mother back in Texas which was 4:30 a.m and shared the news. They said, “We celebrated the whole evening over a beautiful dinner and amazing wine at Le Servant, and drank absynth giddily along the town.”
