Houston Romantic Urban Engagement Session – Kylie and Juan

August 21, 2019

Kylie and Juan wanted a romantic urban engagement session around Houston. We went to several spots including the Menil Drawing Institute, Glassell School of Art,  and James Turrell Skyspace. They wanted a fun and artsy session to represent them and their interests in life together. Juan and Kylie met in High School and were in the same U.S. History class. They would always joke around and find many ways to goof off together. She always found him funny and really “vibed” with him, so to speak. He asked her to hang out one evening, as friends, and they just instantly clicked. Soon after, he made it clear he wanted to be more than friends and so did she! The rest is history! (no pun intended)

This is their super sweet proposal story they sent us:

Kylie says she is very sneaky and has a strong intuition, so she was shocked she was taken by surprise. Juan and her were going to Mexico City in late March planning to attend his mothers huge birthday bash. The plan was to have a 15 man Mariachi band perform at the party and she said, it was legit! Everything checked out. His family was acting normal when they got there so no suspicions needed. They had a reservation at Pujol (a famous restaurant) the night they got in. The dinner was amazing, table was perfect, and she thought they just got lucky and had gotten off the wait list like Juan told her. Little did she know, Juan had this whole thing planned out since January. When they took them to the terrace for their dessert, Juan suddenly said, “So, Ky…” She looked at him skeptically and then he asked, “do you want to go to San Miguel de Allende tomorrow?” At that point she started to flip out! She had been wanting to go there for a long time and was under the impression they wouldn’t have time to fit that into their visit. She said very giddy, “really? really?” Then he said, “and would you like to go as my fiancee?” Then she was REALLY freaking out. She’s wanted to marry Juan for such a long time. In true Juan fashion, it was a beautiful, moving speech, to which she promptly said YES! His mom and step dad rode over on scooters and took some photos of them. They rode home down the main avenue in Polanco and had some awesome wine back at the house with the family. The next day they went to San Miguel which they said was insanely beautiful. The next day was his mom’s birthday party, which really did have a Mariachi band! Juan even dedicated a song to her. That weekend could not have been any better for them!
