Carrie and Christian had a colorful wedding at Hotel Saint Cecilia in Austin, TX. When we arrived, the abundance of wildflowers being placed on tables, and the ceremony backdrop was breathtaking. We started the day capturing some relaxed getting-ready photos and quickly jumped right into the first look. Carrie and Christian wanted to get as many photos done before the ceremony. This helped us take our time capturing these while keeping things fun and light, which is always the goal! Their wedding party was full of family and friends who you could tell support these two through and through.
Hotel Saint Cecilia was the perfect space for them to get married. It seemed to match their intentional approach to keeping things intimate. As the day carried on, everyone enjoyed cocktails under the clear sky while connecting with each other’s friends and family. Their ceremony was special as they shared personalized custom vows while exchanging tears and laughs. The evening was filled with music from their live band, neon lights creating atmosphere, and celebration under the stars.
Now we want to share a bit about them. Carrie and Christian met at the University of Florida Shands Hospital while Christian was in his general surgery residency. Meanwhile, Carrie was in her surgical critical care fellowship. Power couple right?! They noticed each other in a small focus group but didn’t get to know each other until they spent a month together in the Surgical and Trauma ICUs.
Fast forward to their proposal which was a total surprise. Of course, it was romantic and personal. Since they spend a lot of their relationship in different cities and shifts, being home together and cuddling in bed have always been their most cherished moments. They’ve had a lot of personal growth, emotional revolutions, and dissected lyrics and melody from their favorite songs. While lying in bed being them, that’s when Christian proposed. He designed her ring and chose emerald because green is her favorite color. Emerald also symbolizes balance and peace.
They really love every moment they can spend together. When they go out they love live music, jazz clubs, or heading to a local brewery. Doing puzzles and cooking together are their day-to-day bread and butter. We asked them on our questionnaire if they had any other thoughts for us and this is what Carrie wrote: “The best way I can describe how Christian makes me feel is warm and whole. Life for us is not just about experiencing something new, it’s about experiencing something together and enjoying the adventure with and through each other.” And with that, here is their beautiful wedding day.
