We’re so excited to share Michael and Tom’s Elegant Prospect House Wedding! Their Dripping Spring wedding took place right at the start of fall. The lighting during this season is always the best creating a lovely warm tone to the day. Their wedding day started with a laid-back and joyous energy from the rooms! We began photographing their beautifully displayed elegant wedding details throughout Prospect House. When we showed up to photograph Michael and Tom’s wedding celebration, we knew it would be a really special day. A year prior we talked with them on the phone when they were in New York to connect. They have a soft energy about themselves and are confident in the love that they share together.
Michael and Tom met as Bumble matches back in 2016. They matched in the fall of 2016, and messaged each other “hello”, but didn’t take the conversation any further. Fast forward to January of 2017, Tom made a New Year’s Resolution to put himself out there more – that encouraged him to look through old matches and message Michael again.
They went on their first date to Bar Veloce in New York City. Michael picked the place, but didn’t realize it would be packed, and that the only seat left was facing a giant mirror! Needless to say, Michael and Tom were unphased and had a great night together. The rest is history!
When they discussed getting married they knew it would be the fall of 2022. Michael also was going to pop the question so he could pick out the rings and surprise Tom. However, Tom didn’t see it coming! On a trip to Hawaii, they were on a hike at Lanikai Pillbox. It’s a beautiful seaside cliff hike and was the first full day they had in Hawaii. Even though friends and family assumed the proposal would happen on the trip, Tom was sure it wasn’t happening. He usually handles the logistics so he doubted Michael could plan something across the country without Tom having a suspicion. Little did he know, Michael was sneaky and had the doorman of their NYC apartment intercept the rings so Tom would never know it arrived. He slipped the rings in their luggage when Tom was walking their dog Dennis one day.
On the hike, Michael wanted to get the proposal over with right away, so he kept trying to get Tom to stop and sit down and take in the view. That didn’t work because Tom wanted to keep hiking. But Michael knew how to get Tom to stop, and offered to take a photo shoot of him sitting on a rock. While Tom was looking out at the water “posing”, Michael snuck around and popped the question. Now here we are!
We love the genuine and authentic love these two share. It was a complete joy and highlight for us to document their wedding day. The incredible people that surrounded them this day showcases just how amazing they are as humans. THANK YOU again and congratulations you two! Now let’s go back to this day please!
