Elegant Barr Mansion Wedding in Austin

We loved Helen and Cody’s elegant Barr Mansion wedding in Austin, TX! These two are adventurous and met in Tahoe on a snowboarding trip. They stayed in the same house with friends and liked each other immediately! It took them 6 months to start dating and discovered they loved each other’s intelligence and sense of adventure. They prioritize spending time outside in any form so it’s perfect they had national park cards on each wedding table.

For Helen’s 30th birthday, Cody proposed on a trip to Iceland! She knew it was coming as they designed the ring together but didn’t know when it would be. Cody set up a video camera to document some geysers at 11 pm since it was still light out. Unfortunately, the video stopped before the proposal and a busload of tourists arrived right as he proposed. None of that mattered though, Helen was so excited and said it was even better that it didn’t all go according to plan! The best part was it was so late in Iceland, they could call their family in the U.S. immediately to tell them the news!

Learning more about Helen and Cody before their wedding, we knew their celebration would be easygoing. Barr Mansion was the perfect venue for them as it has spacious grounds for all their guests to mingle. The venue is on a large lot where you’re surrounded by nature. The day did start downtown at the Line Hotel. Getting ready downtown allowed them to have a few city photos before heading to the venue. They wanted a nice mixture for their gallery! We captured their first look and walked around for some portraits before heading to Barr Mansion.

One thing Helen and Cody wanted to prioritize was capturing all group photos before the ceremony. We always recommend this if it’s something you’re willing to do which is why first looks are great! This can allow couples to spend time with their guests at cocktail hour and see each other longer throughout the day! The schedule was open to create intentional time visiting with everyone and enjoying enough time for toasts and dancing into the night. The overall feeling tone of their day was relaxed and fun. There was elegance in the style mixed with a sense of adventure to match who they are as a couple. Their elegant Barr Mansion wedding was perfect!
