We photographed Bijal and Saral’s romantic engagement session at the Greenhouse at Driftwood awhile back. It’s been a favorite session as we absolutely love this stunning wedding venue. Greenhouse at Driftwood offers such a wide variety of outdoor and indoor spaces to photograph including their stunning greenhouses. Both of the greenhouses are filled with lush foliage and cactus of all kinds. Honestly, it’s one of those places you’d probably just want to go visit and admire.
When Bijal and Saral contacted us, they wanted some photos for their wedding website. Obviously, we could do A LOT more than just some photos for the website, that’s how we roll. They came with the romance and stunning outfits that made us want to photograph them for hours. When coming into town they decided to spend some time in Austin since it was the city they first met. Actually, they met at a dance banquet as undergrads when they were studying at UT Austin. A mixer was happening one year and they were assigned to the same table, despite being on separate teams. Everything took off from there!
Here is how their proposal went down.
Part One:
“Our very first trip as a couple was to San Diego and since then, San Diego has held a special place in our hearts. When I found out we were going back to San Diego with a group of our friends to celebrate birthdays and NYE, I was excited. Little did I know that I would leave my 2nd trip to San Diego with my heart so full.”
Part Two:
The itinerary for the trip was planned by Bijal’s other friends so she took a back seat to planning this time around. (Little did she know Saral played a huge part in the planning) They were told that Monday they would be going to a fancy dinner, followed by a nice rooftop bar to celebrate the upcoming New Year. On NYE they already had a house party planned. The boys left early and the girls decided to make a pit stop along the beach for photos which Bijal couldn’t say no to that. She loves beaches and beautiful scenery. It wasn’t until later she found out Saral picked out this picture-perfect spot. When the gals got out of the car and walked toward the beach, her girlfriend stopped and said, “this is where we leave you.” In this moment Bijal was confused but when she looked at the end of the staircase in front of her, Saral was standing there looking dapper as ever with a book in his hand. As she walked down all she could think about is, “is this actually happening?!”
Saral and her already talked about getting engaged but not for a few more months so she was so thrown off. Saral already asked her parents for her hand in marriage and their blessings a few months back somehow without her knowing. The book in Saral’s hand was a scrap book of them and the first page was a letter he wrote for her. He read the beautiful letter and they reminisced about their journey. (cue more ugly crying here) The other pages were filled with pictures, saved letters, and even blank pages that they could add later on. “Props to him for all his creativity,” she said. After looking through the book he got down on one knee and she said yes!!
