This House on the Hill wedding in Austin was absolutely lovely. Allison and John were one of those couples we immediately hit it off! This was our first time photographing a wedding here and it immediately became a favorite. House on the Hill gives a laid-back and intimate vibe with it’s cozy home and outdoor spaces. The wedding day started out with casual getting ready before a couple of first looks. Allison wanted to do a first look with her brothers and father before seeing John for the first time that day. Doing first looks before a ceremony can be really helpful to get a lot of photos done prior to the ceremony. You’ll be able to visit with more family and friends during cocktail hour if so as well!
We went ahead and took care of the majority of group photos before the ceremony and captured candids of guests enjoying mimosas with edible flowers as they walked in. From there, the ceremony took place with lots of laughter and joyous tears.
Cocktail hour began after the ceremony behind the venue. There is an overlook that has the most stunning view above the trees in the hill country. Throughout the rest of the evening, there were first dances and plenty of time for everyone to get on the dance floor and let loose. Receptions are always a great way for us to sit back and be a ‘fly on the wall’ to sneak in those candid moments people don’t notice. Our favorite part of photographing weddings is the photojournalistic aspect!
