Sam and Isaac decided to switch their wedding plans to a Big Bend elopement once Covid-19 hit. After already planning their Austin wedding in an intimate setting they decided to elope with just the two of them. Sotol Vista Overlook in Big Bend was the perfect location. Their officiant who lives out in Terlingua recommended it and my goodness he nailed it. The sunset over the hills and mountains out there is as magical as the time we saw a sunset in Hawaii. What a freaking experience!
Isaac and Sam had their engagement session with us at McKinney Falls in Austin. They love spending time outdoors together hiking with their dogs and had already been to Big Bend. We just love when couples want to stay in their element and it was a joy to spend so much time with these two.
Their afternoon elopement started with them getting ready at their Airbnb in Terlingua. They wrote letters to each other and face timed their family to be a part of their celebration. Once they were ready they shared the first look in front of the Airbnb before we set off to Sotol Vista Overlook. The 45 minute drive was nothing short of amazing. Actually, no words can describe how incredibly perfect the light and environment was. The wind was subtle and still from the evening before when we checked out the Overlook.
Once we arrived they read the letters they wrote to each other just earlier. Immediately after we spoke with the officiant and had a quick ceremony with a spectacular written song by the officiant. The rest of the time out there we photographed photos of these two enjoying the insane sunset together. We recall saying several times, “My goodness, this is the sunset on the day you got married!” Once it started to get dark we went to their Airbnb to photograph a few more photos of them before leaving them to it. The next day they planned a backpacking trip throughout the park and well, the rest is history.
Thank you both again for having us be a part of this beautiful celebration with you two.
